Review of Tarte’s Energy Noir Lipsurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint

I got this lip tint because I had already fallen in love with the Energy Noir eye pallet, and I thought a full set would be appropriate. The tint is subtle yet buildable and imparts a plummy tinge that I like better than the original.

After wearing and re-applying all day
I bought the original tint during my phase of trying for a natural, subtlety polished look. I bought products that would merely enhance or perfect my skin, and I was fascinated by color changing lip balm. It was the beginning of my obsession with Tarte. I liked the color, but the formula dried my lips out.

The formula is technically the same in the Noir version, but it isn’t nearly as drying. A creamy feel, this is slightly more moisturizing than your typical lip balm (many of which are heavily flavored and therefore are packed with skin drying alcohol). It has a slight mentholation or minty taste, so if you have very sensitive skin, you might want to test this out before buying it. I don’t know why this one works better on my skin, but it does.

when I first put it on
The color is really great! At first it looks like nothing, just a tiny bit of purple-ish gloss. I reapplied often when I wore it because it absorbs into the skin quickly and I found with each reapplication the stain it left got darker. By the end of the day, it was a pretty dark plum. It was probably thanks to the amount I had on coupled with its color-changing affects, but I found the end result quite flattering.

I keep this in my purse for days I run out of the house without lipstick or need a quick touch up. Because it’s moisturizing and IMG_3784subtle, it matches nearly anything you could have on, already. It’s not something I would reach for if I had time to do full makeup, or if I were dressing up, but for a casual Saturday or an emergency, it works perfectly.

I’d recommend this for anyone who likes dark colors( but needs more moisturizing options), stargazing in sundresses, or gothic beach wear.

This actually makes makeupy things not sound terrible (considering I despise all makeup in the history of, well, ever). The idea of an evolving lip color sounds pretty cool.

It actually is pretty neat! I love when they make science-y makeup, like mood ring nail polish or this color changing lip balm. It feels very sci-fi to me. I’m glad you enjoyed my post! šŸ™‚
